How to Maintain Weight Loss and Keep the Fat Off

Why weight regain is so common, how to move from dieting to maintenance, and the habits most linked to keeping fat off long term, from activity to regular check-ins.

Principles over rules

Nutrition advice online is full of rules: no carbs after 6 pm, never eat soy, cut out fruit, drink this detox. Most of them work, when they work at all, by helping people eat a bit less. None of them are required.

Our nutrition guidance follows a simple hierarchy:

  1. Energy balance determines whether you lose fat.
  2. Protein helps you keep muscle and stay full.
  3. Food quality and fibre make a deficit easier to sustain and support health.
  4. Meal timing matters far less than people think.
  5. Supplements are optional extras, not foundations.

Get the first three right and you'll have most of the results, without banning the foods you enjoy.
