Shirts for Men Self-Conscious About Their Chest

Shirt styles, fabrics, colours, patterns, layers and undershirts that help men feel more comfortable when they're self-conscious about their chest, without any hype.

More men feel this way than you'd think

Feeling self-conscious about your chest can affect far more than how you look in a T-shirt. It can shape whether you go swimming, how you feel at the gym, how you dress, and how comfortable you are in relationships. Many men feel this way and never mention it to anyone.

This section is about the parts of the journey that aren't about calories or sets and reps:

  • Body image. Why so many men struggle with how they look, and practical ways to be kinder to yourself while you work on your health.
  • Everyday confidence. Beaches, pools, changing rooms and summer, with strategies that help you take part rather than avoid things.
  • Perspective. Setting goals that aren't only about your chest, and noticing progress that the mirror misses.

Our approach

We don't believe in shaming anyone into change. Motivation built on disliking your body tends to fade, and it can make things worse. We focus on practical steps, realistic expectations and treating yourself with the same respect you'd show a friend.

We also know our limits. We're not a replacement for professional support. If thoughts about your body are taking up much of your day, affecting your mood, or stopping you from doing things you'd otherwise enjoy, please speak with a doctor. Our resources page lists organisations that can help.

Where to start

If you're new here, the complete guide to chest fat explains what actually changes your chest, and realistic expectations explains how long it usually takes. The clothing section has practical tips for feeling more comfortable in the meantime, and non-scale victories helps you notice progress beyond the scale.
